Log File Reporting
| | | Tracking software such as Webtrends Log File Analysis can give indications of the domain name of a large visiting company, however this often shows up as the ISP such as charter.net, cox.net, etc, which might offer value as verification or effectiveness gaging of advertisments placed with those media.
Some points on what Log File Reporting does that might also be deemed worthwhile:
1. Keyword parsing gives indication of what keywords are being used to visit a website.
2. Which Search Engines are providing you activity. (Attention is given to deficient search engines or those that suddenly lose their usual activity level)
3. What times/peak of day and week there is activity. This corresponds to TV/Radio/Print spots to gage their effectiveness. Market test different on-air spots by gaging amount of return traffic at your Internet website.
4. What pages show up most, least: is usefull to know which of your pages beyond the home page is most visited and use that information to further advantage in the placement of your own and your clients' web banners.
5. Web Browsers? It's interesting to watch the pack and identify which browsers your client's are using, ranked accross browsers, ranked by each browser type.
6. Identify/Verify Search Engine Spiders visits to insure they have re-indexed your website. (Some marketers pay to maintain the ability to refresh Search Engine databases on demand. This is verification)
